UPDATE - A Note from Our Creative Director
We first created our Quality Index Report in March of 2010, a year ago. It was an experiment: if we could create a process where we analyze a website and give it a rating, a score, based on several important criteria, it would provide a valuable service to folks who are thinking of ways to improve their site.
We didn't just want push out some generic information, we wanted to offer personalized, professional recommendations after taking the time to visit and test the submitted website. So we combined prewritten educational information with real, helpful advice. In a year of offering these Quality Index Reports, it took an average of an hour to generate each one.
Now we could have charged some good money for this service, but we decided to give it away for FREE. Yes, we had a motive: which website design company would be at the forefront of a person's mind after reading the report and realizing their site needs some close attention? You guessed it: Siteshine. We figured it was a win-win: the business community at large is able to get some helpful advice for free, and we are able to get some potential leads.
Unfortunately, it didn't work. For the most part, we never heard back from anyone after sending them our detailed report. To be honest, we were rather astounded. Somehow, what we imagined our service could be and what it actually was in the real world were totally different.
Therefore, we have taken down our Quality Index Report. It available no longer. However, we still think the idea of a free service that will help you discover ways to improve your site is important and valuable. So we are going back to the drawing board. We will probably end up developing some kind of self-serve, interactive feature that rates your site for free and combine that with a paid product or subscription for detailed, professional education and advice.
