Congradulations, Geoffrey! Now there are a lot of myths floating around out there about SEO. The truth is, SEO isn't a magic bullet. If somebody claims they can get you to #1 on Google in only X days, it's probably a scam. Here's how SEO really works:
First, make sure your site code is built right
The URL (address) of your web page is space where valuable keywords can be strategically placed. The HTML title of your page (which you see at the very top of your browser window) is what search engines use to index and display your page in their search results. The META Description tag helps search engines know what to show for the byline in search results. Finally, it's important to build a site using modern, standards-compliant HTML code so search engines can index your pages easily.
Second, make sure you target key audiences via Landing Pages
It's vital that you spend time thinking through what sorts of visitors will be arriving at your site, and target each sub-segment of your potential customer base accordingly. For example, if you head an insurance agency, you will want to create a landing page for each type of insurance for which you can broker a policy. Another example: if you want to bring in visitors from different geographical areas, create a landing page for each area individually.
Third, do your keyword research
With enough time, the right software, and a clear strategy, together we can research the many, many different types of search phrases people might use to discover your website. Various combinations of important keywords, and other less obvious "long tail" keywords are all potential traffic blockbusters that should direct the development of content on your website.
Partner with us. Together, we can bring in more of the right kind of traffic.
In all of these areas, we will work with you to draft content guidelines, research keywords that will bring in traffic, and ensure your site is built to the latest search-engine-friendly specifications. We can't guarantee you'll rocket to #1 on Google overnight—nobody can—but we are confident you will see your rankings go higher and higher as we create quality, valuable, and targeted content together.

Social Media Expertise
Wondering how to connect your Facebook to your Twitter to your LinkedIn to your Posterous to your Quora to your YouTube to your Email to your Blog? Don't stay lost in a "state of confusement" any longer! We can help you get set on the right path.
The old adage “it's not what you know but who you know” is often a real key to success. And these days, it's who you know online. By utilizing social media such as Facebook and Twitter, your communication efforts will be much more effective.
Twitter is the latest of the social networks to gain a huge audience, and for good reason: it's based on a simple premise that if you find a person's posts on Twitter interesting, you can follow them to read their posts in your real-time stream (your "inbox"). Each post, also called a status update or "tweet", is limited to a maximum of 140 characters. This may seem like a strange constriction, but it actually helps to keep people's statements short and easily understood.
The two most interesting ways Twitter helps businesses and organizations is through direct communications to followers, and through the ability to search Twitter for certain keywords in order to find prospective customers or simply contribute to the various conversations that might impact your industry.
Almost everyone has heard of Facebook by now — it is the most popular social network. It is perhaps more private in nature compared to Twitter as it promotes connections based on real-life friendships. However, Facebook's "Pages" feature allows you to leverage both an existing personal network if you have one and gain a new group of "fans" that stay on to date on the latest posts you write on your wall and items of interest that you share. Due to the powerful and easy customization features Facebook pages have, you can consider it almost like a second website for getting the word out quickly and communicating with customers and supporters in real-time.
Our Role
We can help you get set up on Facebook and Twitter and integrate both streams of communication into your website as needed. Sometimes this may entail the simple addition of a link or a widget, other times you require a deeper level of interaction. It's up to you!
Mobile - iPhone/iPad
Along with any of our web design packages, we can develop custom stylesheets and interactions especially tailored to mobile devices.
A fast growing segment of web surfers are using their iPhone, iPad, or Android device to read content, access important information, and make crucial decisions. Don't let your website get left out in the cold. If your entire page is written in a proprietary platform such as Flash, you need to upgrade right away. We can help!
We build sites based on open web technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, jQuery, and more. We will make sure your mobile users have a great experience on your site.

Cloud Computing & Services Integration
From file sharing to databases, from CRM (Customer Relations Management) to invoicing, from project management to employee communications, there are a wealth of inexpensive and simple solutions for running your business in the cloud.
Cloud computing refers to interacting with applications and data that live on Internet servers rather than in-house servers or desktop computers. Whether you do PC or Mac, you will be able to use compatible software anytime, anywhere to keep your lines of communications flowing and your operations running smoothly.
We provide consulting and do research for our clients to get them migrated and set up on useful cloud tools such as Highrise, Yammer, DropBox, Google Calendar/Docs, MobileMe, and others. If you're tried of paying a lot for crappy software that you can only use on one machine, you need to pack your bags and travel to the fantastic new world of cloud computing.
Video Production & Integration
Video is a primary form of communication online now, and you can take advantage of it to boost your visibility and engagement with customers and prospects dramatically.
YouTube is of course the #1 video sharing site on the Internet. Other popular destinations are Vimeo, and, for live video, Ustream and Justin.tv. The key to remember is: if a picture is worth a thousand words, what is a video worth?
Our experience has been that, out of all the tweets and postings and articles and content you can write, a simple video has the potential to reap huge dividends in generating customer traffic, feedback, and buzz.
We can help you formulate an online video strategy, find top videographers in your geographical area, and upload videos onto the popular video sharing sites as well as embedding them onto your website. In this digital age, don't limit yourself to past forms of marketing! Take advantage of the multimedia nature of the modern web and add video to your online presence.
Branding & Identity
Marketing is communicating to the public who you are and what you offer. Branding is communicating to
Branding is very important to the health of any company. What is your mission? What do you value? What is most essential to your business? How should people perceive you? What impression should your products or services make on people, both new customers as well as long-time fans?
We can partner with you to develop or enhance your brand, particularly in the online arena. From your marketing copy to your logos, color scheme, typography, and more, your identity as a company, organization, or professional is vital to consistent growth and success.
If you are a professional doing business, your “personal brand” is just as important as a company brand. Your brand is reflected in:
- How you communicate what you do
- How you educate people, even if they aren't clients or customers yet
- The legacy of your training and experience, the "aftermath" factor
- How you problem-solve, how you react to changing conditions in the marketplace
As Seth Godin once asked, what is your Purple Cow? In other words, what makes you stand out from the herd and get noticed every time?
A website is more than just marketing. It's customer relations, education, community hub, and anything else you want it to be. Partner with Siteshine, and we will help you create a fantastic online presence that strengthes your brand and your bond with your audience.
